Fire Control received numerous calls reporting a terrace property on fire at the above location earlier today. Further calls indicated that several other properties had become affected by the fire.
Fire Engines from Wells, Glastonbury and Street were quickly mobilised. Control actioned a make pumps 4 before crews arrived due to the nature of the calls which indicated the fire was rapidly developing.
Upon arrival, crews requested a further two fire engines to attend for breathing apparatus and personnel. These were mobilised from Shepton Mallet and Cheddar. An Aerial Ladder Platform was also requested and mobilised from Bridgwater.
Crews have confirmed a fire within roof and first floor of a mid terrace property measuring approx. 10 by 40metres. The fire is being tackled using 6 x breathing apparatus, 2 x compressed air foam system jets, 1 x hose reel jet and 1 x main jet. Crews advised control that they has to tactically withdraw from the property due to instability of the first floor.
Fire crews used 6 breathing apparatus to prevent fire spread to adjacent property however 2 other properties have been affected by the fire.
